It’s that time of year again, when team Jamersan packs its collective bags and takes our meetup show on the road. Starting in February, we’ll tackle three cities in three days, and the inaugural Magento meetup for 2018 will take place in Birmingham, AL.
Dubbed “The Magic City” back in the 1870s, when in roughly a decade, its population leaped from about 100 people to a quarter million, fueled by industry heavily reliant upon iron and steel. That’s when Birmingham first became a major player in the global economy.
Today, Birmingham again garners international acclaim, but it’s largely leading edge technology, rather than smokey steel mills, that drives the progress. As a recent member of TechBirmingham, we at Jamersan have had the opportunity to meet many of the stakeholders in the tech community, now charged with keeping the Birmingham “magic” alive.
The topic of our first round of meetups is progressive web apps (PWAs), which we believe will dramatically impact the eCommerce landscape for the foreseeable future. So as we endeavor to foretell the future, in a city synonymous with magic, where better to gather than The Edge of Chaos? This UAB sponsored “think tank” housed in a super cool venue atop the school’s medical library will provide the perfect accommodations for our event.
The meetup will be held on Tuesday February 6th, from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM. There will be an opportunity for networking before the presentation, and plenty of time afterwards for Q&A As with all Jamersan Magento meetups, we will provide food from local dining hotspots and delicious local craft beers (along with soft drinks, water etc.).
Jamersan CEO, TJ Gamble will talk aboutwhy we believe that PWAs will soon revolutionize the way that most companies approach building and operating eCommerce websites, and will ultimately improve the way we all do business on the web.
So get ready Birmingham. We look forward to kicking off our 2018 meetup series in this great city, and to the many representatives of your thriving business community, we hope to see you there – click here to register!.
